I ran across an article on lifehacker/diy photography (also also here and here) a few days ago, it was about altering the bokeh individually. Yesterday I tried it and the first images already proved I found something new to play around with ... so I thought I should share, because I'm probably not the only one who enjoys this :D Create a bokeh with stars, hearts, crosses or whatever!

I am not sure if this works with pocketkameras, but I doubt it, unfortunatly. But it shouldn't matter if your SLR is digital or not.

Under the cut you will find three pics of the enhanced camera and three sample pictures, taken with said enhancement.

It's really, really easy to make. You just need some cardboard, a scissor, maybe a scalpel and some tape.
Make a tube that fits over your lens, it should sit close, but loose enough you can slip it on and of without damage.
Make a circle the size of the diameter of the tube. Find the middle and cut in a star, a heart or whatever you like. Don't make it too big! If it's too big, the effect will be lost. In the articles I linked above they tell you how to calculate the correct size.
Connect the tube and the circle with tape.
Place it on your lens and shoot something close by with and in a way so you have a blurry background. Important is that the background consists of/has lightspots!
Have fun :)

PS: Ignore the dark corners, I still have to work out making the shaped whole the right size :) But you get the idea.
