Oh my ... what are we doing?
Mar. 27th, 2010 05:28 pmWarning, not for weak stomachs. *sigh*
I first thought it was some kind of art or so ... but it's not.
"These photographs of albatross chicks were made in September, 2009, on Midway Atoll, a tiny stretch of sand and coral near the middle of the North Pacific. The nesting babies are fed bellies-full of plastic by their parents, who soar out over the vast polluted ocean collecting what looks to them like food to bring back to their young. On this diet of human trash, every year tens of thousands of albatross chicks die on Midway from starvation, toxicity, and choking."

On a personal note ... we got another refrigerator! As in, a new (used) one, but afaik it's a good one, as it doesn't need much power. Funny how we got it: As we happen to have only one fridge right now and this one is ooold and seems to die, I looked around for a replacement online yesterday. Today when I came home from visiting the fleamarket with
laurenia, a fridge was standing in the hallway. I asked the girls that were coming in with me if they know who it belongs to and such and they said, yeah, to the woman who is moving in above us (=my + my flatmates flat). And she doesn't need it anymore and wanted to put it in the cellar. So I went up later when she was back and asked her how much she wanted and the price was very fine - and the best thing was, it was already in the house! No worrying about finding somebody with a car and time :D Yay!
Also yay: We'll get back 360 euro from our gas/electricity povider! Thats 90 euro per person! Well needed money right now ...
Besides I'm borrowing more books on comics (got the Will Eisner ones now, had the Scott McCloud one before). But tonight: BBQ! First time of the year for me, so, yay. Also looking forward to dvd-evening tomorrow.
Also: Do you use google reader? Do you recommend stuff? Care to share your recommendations?
