Problem:
I have avi and mov videos I want to upload. So that someone else can download them.
They were taken with my camera(s) and are way to big in filesize (5 minutes = 300 mb or something).

Does anybody know a small, easy program to compress them? As simple as 'open video' - 'choose codec/compression' - 'save' - 'done!'?
Preferable with codec inside already or with codec I could use as well?
Also: Free to use program please, if possible.

Thanks!

Meine Kollegin meint, eventuell:

http://www.chip.de/downloads/SUPER-2009_17370353.html

SUPER could indeed work.

I haven't done this sort of thing recently, but in the past I used to use something called XviD4PSP from http://www.winnydows.com/ -- an awful website but a good bit of software. It says that version 5 only runs on Windows Vista and XP, if you're using Windows 2000 you'll want version 4.

It's a little more complex than open/choose/save, but it's got the codecs included, as I recall. And it's free.

I use the free iMovie program that Apple includes with OS X for this. Open iMovie, it'll ask you what you want to name your project, pick any name, then drag the original video file into the bar at the bottom. iMovie will import it, which could take a few minutes. Then use iMovie's "Export" option to export it for CD, or for slightly lower quality, export it for Web. Keep the exported file, and you can quit iMovie and delete the much larger iMovie project file.
