Okay, Dilemma

elfyOkay, ich hab ein Dilemma. Zwei. Wegen der Kurswahl für nächstes Semester. Die Wahl endet heute Nacht und ich bin mir noch immer nicht sicher. Es macht mich fusselig!
Also... erste Semesterhälfte:
Derzeit gewählt: Die Zukunft der Hand II. Fortsetzung des Projekts von letztem Semester, inhaltlich wird nix mehr gemacht oder wenig, nur das Buch muss noch gemacht werden. Keine sooo wilde Sache. Doof: Es haben sich bisher erst 2 (in Worten: zwei) Leute für das Projekt angemeldet. Ich weiß nicht, ob es am Ende nicht vielleicht abgesagt wird. Fachgebiet hab ich letztes Semester schon abgedeckt.
Alternative: Time Machine 2020 - Lustiger Prof, Fachbereich den ich noch nicht abgedeckt habe, aber eh noch abdecken muss, Projekt klingt spannend, geht darum ob Sci-Fi Autoren sozusagen einen "Zukunftsradar" haben, was von dem was sie schreiben zutrifft und was nicht und dann eben die Frage, welche Produkte und 2020 wohl so umgeben werden.
Zusatz: How I see, How I am Seen - Projekt über Klischees Stereotypen und welche wir haben und welche wir erfüllen und wie wir andere sehen. Das ist sicher verdammt spannend. Kurzfristiges Projekt anfang des Semesters, wenn ich kann geh ich noch rein.
Zweite Semesterhälfte - Das wirkliche Dilemma!
Derzeit gewählt - ISM 2009, ein Projekt zu Internationalen Süßwarenmesse, inklusive Süßwaren erfinden und so :D Wir sicher spaßig, hab Control (über Wii-Programmierung) schon fallen gelassen. Süßwarenmesse ist Anfang Februar, d.h. der Januar, besonders Ende Januar wird sehr arbeitsintensiv. ABER...
Ende Januar ist ein soooo toll klingendes Projekt, nämlich: Design for the Soul: Creating Collectible Products
Our society is saturated with material things. It is nearly impossible to base sales of new products on their functional performance only. There is a need for new kind of objects: things that could find correspondence with people’s soul, trigger desire, and beg to be collected. Objects for collecting shall no longer be dismissed as “useless”. Instead, the very idea of function shall be expanded and re-defined, to incorporate collecting as one of essential human activities.
Our workshop will look into history and psychology of collecting, and will develop strategies for designing a line of collectible products.
Constantin Boym (www.boym.com), a famous New-York-based designer known for unusual products like Buildings of Disaster and Babel Blocks (included in MoMA permanent design collection), will guide this project.
Das klingt soooooooooooo super, finde ich. Aber wenn ich das ISM Projekt mache, wird dafür nie im Leben Zeit sein. Das Projekt geht nämlich nur eine Woche und zwar genau die letzte Januarwoche. Aaaaargh.
Und ich kann nur noch heute wählen und weiß nicht, was ich nehmen soll. Eieieieiei.

Date: 2008-09-13 03:32 pm (UTC)Phase 2 klingt das Süßwarenprojekt höchstwahrscheinlich interessanter als es sein wird. Wer sich mal in dem Bereich betätigt hat, wird dich da ernüchtern können. Design for the Soul ist zwar unscharf formuliert, aber letztlich vermutlich das schöpferischere.

I don't know, I always thought about the enterprise of "collectibles" arising for mainly two reasons. People hoping you will see the word collectible and buy it with the expectation that it will magically rise in value over time (like buying a stock low and selling high). Which is hardly soul touching.
And then the other reason, which is lol that people have OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder), and omg they HAVE to buy every puppy-like thing they see or they'll just die!
Catering to neurotic compulsion is hardly touching someones soul...but boy that sure sounds more glamorous when you put it that way :)
