Today I talked to a girl who had just four fingers on one hand (well, her thumb and three fingers). It looked pretty, hm, natural, as if she was born this way (instead of loosing a finger by accident, like my uncle did). It wasn't, she told me she was born without bones in her thumb and so they removed her thumb and instead made her index finger her 'new' thumb. Anyway, all this just made me remember that as a kid I always wanted to have just four fingers on my hands, because of the four-fingered elves in Elfquest.

She wasn't called Carmen, maybe?
But I think she only has three fingers. It took me ages to notice that her hand is not "normal".

I just met her today, she was a... naja, eine von der Hamburg-Mannheimer, musste mit mir was wegen der Riesterrente ausfüllen.
I noticed nearly right away that there was something 'not normal' with her hand. She said most people don't notice and she actually doesn't care much about it (as in, it doesn't make her feel unnormal or anything).

Had I met her I would feel duty bound to ignore such a "deformity" since it didnt really affect me in any way.

I think however the Elfquest link was the thing which made it a point of interest for you.

Yes, actually it was the EQ-Link why I talked to her about it, otherwise I would have ignored it, too. We had a nice little chat before that anyway.
