I have no idea if this is real, but it seems so, to me.
And even if not, the chance is there and everybody can help with one click. In fact, if every active lj user would just click 3 times, it would be done.

There is a girl requesting that you download a simple 3kb textfile from her megaupload account, in hope that they (megaupload) will make true what they promised: 5 million downloads and she gets 10.000 dollar. Why should you click for her? As it seems, she needs it for a surgery.

Yeah, I know it sounds fake, writing it down here, I feel kinda silly. But look at the community she made, her personal journal and well... downloading that textfile won't hurt, in case it is real, or?

(And sorry if it comes out that this is fake/spam. I just think that if there is a little chance that this is real and you can help someone with a click, why not do it?)

Also, you may copy this text.

Maybe I'm just a too negative type of person, but that really sounds like a hoax to me. I didn't read the whole story, but I don't get it. 10.000 dollar for 5 million downloads? Who pays the money? Obviously some company. Why does the company say: "get us 5 million downloads or die!"? Doesn't make sense to me.

In case that was no fake, really sorry then. As long as people are rather healthy, they rarely ponder about how much those suffer who depend on organs or surgeries and do't get them.

It's not so much "get us 5 million downloads or die!", it's a person trying to make $10 000 via this program, looks like. This DID ring my bells, too, by the way, but assuming Megaupload is true to their word, it looks like it might actually work.

(Of course, to be honest, I'm questioning whether the chica actually has multiple neurological problems, but that's me being a deeply untrusting person. The US medical system really does suck that much, though.)

This might not be a hoax, but I fear she might not get the premium that way. I just had a look at MegaUpload's reward programme pages and it clearly states "You are disqualified & banned if you try to manipulate your results." Not sure if flogging your pages this way counts as manipulation.

I don't think so... I guess manipulating means programming a thingy that downloads the stuff as often as possible or so. Because megaupload wants the people to see their advertisements.
