Saturday I was in the open air museum in Kommern with [livejournal.com profile] zorn, Helen and Matthias. It was nice there, lots of old houses... and I got to pet a chicken, that was cute. It was very tame and after Helen got it and had one Hand under the hen, it was laying in there and seemed to purr or something and nearly fell asleep :)
After that we went to visit Claudia and Kai, friends of the others, I met them once before. Nice people, very friendly. They bought a house up on a hill it is a pain to get there, I think especially about the kids (Marie-Claire, 5 and Tristan, 3) who will go to school in a few years and either their mother or father have to drive them to school everyday or... I don't know. Well, besides that the house is very lovely, especially what the two are making out of it. Warm colors, much wood and... it was just very nice, I liked it there. Claudia cooked and it was quite tasty, it was chicken in some wine-sauce. Kai, zorn and me had a very nice and very long chat about physics, philosphy and all this. Somewhat geeky and very nice.

Today I was way to lazy. Have to get stuff done tomorrow. Going on with my room, finding a job.
Oh, I totally forgot to ask Elia if she got the job at the cinema... well, tomorrow.

And maybe there is a chance to let Naomi have kittens. A friends father has a (male) cat I would need for that. This itself is not really useful (because he would want money, he's a breeder), but he thinks about giving this little tomcat to his daughter. That would hopefully, hopefully mean I can let him make kittens with Naomi, before they are both castrated. *prays* That would be ideal, really.

Morgen muss ich was getan bekommen.

Can you actually make money breeding cats over there? Kittens are common as dirt over here, so people regularly post "Kittens free to good home" notices in the newspapers.

Or, maybe if your cat is purebred, then that makes sense. ^_^

Chickens are funny. And dumb. But they're still cool.

Yeah, she is a purebred. British Shorthair. Her sister and brothers were sold for 400 - 600 Euro (for one!). She was left and that friend gave her to us (my ex and me) for cheap (well, still 75, but we paid her 200, we knew she could use it and we had it back then).

I want her to have kittens once before she is castrated and I would clearly prefer the father to be a british shorthair as well. Problem is, only breeders have not-castrated male cats and they want around 200 Euro for a f**k. Well, some are cheaper, but it doesn't seem to get below 150. Still too much for me. And I can't wait much longer, my cat gets the pill and you can't give it to a cat too long, thats not good for her.

Normal cats are often for free as well here, sometimes people want the vetenarian costs or some money so they can be sure you want the cat and don't just buy it for fun or so.

achja, davon abgesehen...

More English commentary, rather than an actual response... sorry. 8)

"Castrated" is specifically what happens to males. As a general term, you might use "fixed," which is a polite term for what happens at the vet's.

One might also use "neutered," which is used more and more for either gender animals, though it originally applied mostly to males. Female animals get "spayed," which isn't a general term; it applies only to the female.

Do I annoy you when I do these?

You don't annoy me :)

But this time, I was correct :)
In fact, castrated means to have the essential parts *removed*. A few years ago you castrated male cats and sterilized female cats - but today you also castrate female cats and remove the uterus completly.

Well, I just looked it up in the dictionary, and yes, technically, you're correct... which I didn't know, thank you.

However, in practice....

What, in practice?
Believe me, I talked to a vet shortly ago and he said also female cats are *castrated* :)
