Meinungsfreiheit? Ja wo kommen wir denn da hin?!

I was somewhat sick the last days. Thursday it got so bad I went home earlier from work, took some medicine and slept much. Friday I went to work again and did quite much, on that side a good start into the new month. I didn't hold my presentation on wednesday... the profasked me to be the last one and after the second presentation (of five including mine) it was clear that it was to much much to listen to all on this day. So he asked me to do it next week. Oh well. It's finished, I have some time left to clean out the last mistakes, so it's okay.

Tomorrow I'm going to a concert lovely zorn invited me to :) Covenant supportet by Rotersand and Client. I'm looking forward to it, but actually I think I like Rotersand even more than Covenant :) Guess it will be nice.

I am a little... hm, not really scared, but something like that, about this whole 'Mohammed comic strips discussion' going on. Concerned is the right word, maybe. I know it's just a few radicals who start burning flags and scream and threaten, but still I sometimes wonder if we maybe really have to fear a big holy war / third war at some point. On spiegel.de is a discussion in a forum about that. The initating question was, if an apogly for these comics is necessary/correct or not. And right now there are over 4800 replies on that topid. O.o Just, oi, wow.

Hmmmm, I actually think that we already make to many efforts to get along. Denmark said they are sorry, like the riots wanted - and I think it was wrong to say that. Because we in Europe have something called freedom of speech. Maybe these pictures were neither tasteful nor tactful, but I think they have the rights on their side. Threatening with war because another country does something which is legal there is just utterly wrong.
I could rant a lot on this, but I won't right now :)
What do you think about that? Do you think to apologise was correct?

at first I thought an appology was in order. Some newspapers seemed to publish it deliberately, somewhat fanning the flames. However, the muslim world is taking this way too far! Newspapers aren't controled by the government, so why attack embassies? In Lebanon's case, there have been arrests bc people were crossing the border (probably from Syria) to deliberately get others riled up and angry so there could be all that mess. In Turkey, a Roman Catholic priest was killed. Now how does that help????? In England, protesters were holding up banners saying "slay those who disrespect Islam".
I find it odd how they get all offended that some cartoons are published by people who are in no way sinning and do not have to abide by the regulations of another religion, but seem to not make much of a fuss when someone from their own religion uses the name of God as an excuse to bomb a wedding or bus. And there are PLENTY of examples in the middle eastern media of disrespect towards Christians and Jews. For crying out loud, the leader of Iran is a Holocaust denier, as if he'd know better than scholars from Central Europe - where it actually happened! Now if the west were to protest and make embargoes over things like that WE'd be considered irrational.
Again, I'm exasperated. I know it's not everyone but people are using this exercise in freedom of speach as an excuse let loose their frustrations and anger. And the worst part is, they're enjoying it.
